Meet your practitioner

Hey, I'm Sam.

I'm a Registered Clinical Nutritionist, with a background in exercise science, postgraduate human nutrition and functional medicine, and a particular interest in the many complexities of women's health.

I'm 34 and live in beautiful Hawke's Bay with my husband and our four children. InHer Health Clinic is where my love of science, education and genuinely individualised healthcare comes together.

The thinking behind InHer

There is always more to someone's health story.

It's something I've come to appreciate more with every year in practice. Two women can arrive with the same symptoms, yet have completely different histories, nutritional needs, training demands and circumstances. Getting to know those details is often where the most useful clinical work begins.

A little more about my approach
How I practise

I like the detail. I like the science. And I really like getting to know the person.

My work centres on women whose health concerns don't always fit neatly into one category. Hormones, digestion, energy, metabolic health, nutrition, movement and the demands of everyday life can all influence the wider picture. My role is to take a thorough history, assess the information available and help make sense of what deserves our attention.

That might involve reviewing existing blood results, exploring nutritional patterns or considering additional investigations where they're appropriate. Just as importantly, it means working out what is realistic for the woman sitting in front of me. I want your recommendations to be clinically considered, clearly explained and manageable within your actual life.

Evidence-informed care with room for individual circumstances.
Qualifications & continuing education

A clinical foundation I keep building on.

Nutrition and women's health are continually evolving fields, and keeping up with the research is an important part of my responsibility to clients. Alongside formal study, I continue to undertake further professional education in women's hormonal, metabolic and digestive health.

Beyond the consulting room

Education has always been a big part of who I am.

Outside of the clinic, I also work in schools teaching young women about female physiology, menstrual health and body literacy. I love the opportunity to give girls information about their bodies at an age when that knowledge can make such a difference to their understanding and confidence.

It's the same attitude I bring into clinical appointments. I enjoy explaining the reasoning behind my recommendations, answering questions and helping women build the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health. And when I'm not wearing my practitioner or educator hat, life at home with four children keeps things wonderfully full.
